Thomas M. McFaden, 57, a lifelong resident of Framingham, MA passed away on Sunday, October 6th, 2024 after living with cancer. Tom was born in Needham, MA on January 24th, 1967, to the late Edward and Theresa (Curtis) McFaden.
Tom is survived by his siblings; Mary (McFaden) Caira of Stoughton, MA; Edward & Lori McFaden of Worcester, MA; and Timothy & Laura McFaden of Rochester, NH. He cherished all his nieces and nephews and enjoyed being a Great-Uncle. He blessed his family by always making them a high priority.
Tom graduated from Marian High School in Framingham in 1985. He earned his BSBA in Finance in ’91 from Nichols College in Dudley, MA. He had a successful finance career in Boston starting at State Street Bank upon graduating. In the Summer of ’99 he started working at Brown Brothers Harriman. He spent over 25 years at BBH with not just coworkers, but friends.
He did not let anything stand in the way of him enjoying life. He traveled overseas and throughout the US & Canada. He fulfilled his dream of tracing his family roots by traveling across Ireland, especially enjoying the views at the Cliffs of Moher. He was a lover of good music and good times. Always happy to join his friends at any live event, especially a Frozen Four tournament. He was a lifelong sports fan. Spending most of his life playing hockey as a goalie, starting with Framingham Youth Hockey. He only recently stepped off the ice but relished in the memories of joining his teammates. He was a loyal friend, always keeping their secrets close to heart. He was blessed with many dear friends. Tom had a way of making others feel special by always complimenting a new hairstyle or pair of shoes. He loved Sundays, starting by attending Mass in the morning and in the afternoons enjoying a game with friends at a pub.
Our family will always treasure April 6th. Spending hours shoulder to shoulder with Tom at The Irish Village in Cape Cod. Almost all of our family was able to attend the gathering. It was a perfect way to celebrate the life of Tom and the love we have for one another. The weekend was full of perfect moments. We loved when the tales of mischief and memories came pouring out. Reminiscing like that was a reminder of the best part of our family holidays, hours of sharing memories around the table. It was there that we learned the proper way to toast Tom was with his favorite scotch, 18-year-old Macallan, and if that’s not on hand Jameson will do.
Tom was a pillar in our family, always there to support us when needed. The memories we created together and the lessons he taught us will provide us with countless heartfelt stories. He was stoic, facing many of life’s troubles without complaint. He had a way of taking things in stride that will be forever admired. Meeting anyone with his resilience again seems impossible. He was brave and self-assured. Not just in the way he faced his circumstances, but in the way he lived his entire life. Let us cherish his qualities and strive to embody them. Tom’s spirit will guide us to find the courage to preserver, a loving gift from him that will last eternally.

Family and friends will honor and remember Tom’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Thursday, October 10th from 4-8pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, 270 Elliot St., Newton at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Needham.

In lieu of flowers, dedicated donations can be made in memory of Tom to Good Sports. This non-profit exists to make sure cost don’t keep kids on the bench. By supplying youth organizations with the gear they need, overhead costs are cut and more resources become available.
