FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High girls swim & dive team suffered a loss against the Needham High Rockets last night at Babson College’s pool.

The meet opened up with the diving event, with Framingham Flyer Emily Richardson placing first in the 1-meter dive.

Needham controlled the meet in the pool most of the night, thus earning the win.

Sophomore Marie Scanlon finished second in the sprint event and third in the 100-yard freestyle event.

Despite the loss, there were personal highlights at last night’s meet for the Flyers.

Katya Barry said, “I got my first sectional cut for diving so I am very happy about that. We’re well into the season so we’re getting into the groove of everything.”

Megan Clemmons praised her team for coming out with such personal wins from the meet.

“After finally getting back into the pool for practice after not for a while, our coach pushed us. A lot of us got some good swims, alot beat their previous personal times and I cut a few seconds off of which I was really proud of. Our conditioning and practice showed off in the meet today,” she said.

Head Coach Mike Foley praised his team for such a great turnaround for the meet. He said despite losing, it was one of the best meets they have competed in all season.

“We’ve had an awesome few days of practice and I think their confidence is growing in what each of them is able to do.”

The Flyers have two home meets next.

First one is Monday against Boston Latin at the Wayland pool at 9:50 a.m.

Then a meet against Braintree High School on Saturday, October 15 at the Wayland community pool at 11:15 a.m.
