FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Senior Heroes Awards Team, an initiative of the Framingham Council on Aging, is announcing the winners of the 2024 awards.

This is the fourth annual Framingham Council on Aging Senior Heroes Awards recognition program.

These four outstanding senior residents have willingly contributed their volunteer time and experience to improving our quality of life and enriching our community related to diversity, equity, and inclusivity for all residents of Framingham in one of the following areas:

  • Culture/Arts
  • Social Development
  • Health/Health Care
  • Public Service

 

The recipients are:

Carol Lach – Culture/Arts – Recognized for her efforts with the Framingham History Center third grade programs related to indigenous people, local authors of color featured in her show with Access Framingham TV “Novel Ideas – Chats with Local Authors”, her dedication to the Callahan Center’s Book Discussion Group, Latino Americano Group as well as being the Friends of Callahan Sunshine Lady.

Cynthia Villanueva – Social Development – Recognized for her longtime efforts, outreach and dedication to champion bi-lingual education, English language learners, and LGBTQ+ rights.

Maureen Dickey – Health/Healthcare – Recognized for her extensive efforts and outreach that has touched people of all ages and backgrounds with the Callahan Center/Wellness/Blood Pressure Clinic, Medical Reserve Corps, Brazilian American Center, Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center, and Latino Health Services.

Judith Grove – Public Service – Recognized for her efforts and outreach in environmental justice and work resulting in the closing, cleanup, and redevelopment of Mary Dennison Park, and opening the first skateboard park in Framingham at Farm Pond as well as her current role with the Community Preservation Committee.
