FRAMINGHAM – The Massachusetts Bail Fund pays bail in Massachusetts so that low-income people can stay free while they work towards resolving their case, allowing individuals, families, and communities to stay productive, together, and stable.

In December, the bail fund is coming to Framingham District Court.

The mission of the Massachusetts Bail Fund is “freeing individuals serving pre-trial sentences, and to abolishing pre-trial detention and supervision in the long-term.”

“Massachusetts jails are filled with people awaiting trial simply because they cannot afford bail.  Bail leads to longer incarcerations times, lost jobs, lost housing, and devastated families. The Massachusetts Bail Fund provides bail for people who cannot afford to pay,” said the organization.

The winter holidays are a time for family and gratitude. For too many people in our community, it’s another day in jail because they can’t afford the bail that would bring them home,” said the organization.

In the month of November alone, Mass Bail Fund spent $56,465 on bail not including bail related expenses.

This December, the Massachusetts Bail Fund will be posting bail at South Boston, Roxbury, Dorchester, Lawrence, Lynn, Springfield, Chicopee, Framingham, and Worcester District Courts on December 20, December 23 and December 27

”We will be posting bail straight from arraignments so that people do not have to step foot inside the jail and can be home with their families and loved ones,” said the organization.
