FRAMINGHAM – Yesterday, December 18, members of the Framingham Fire Department Union #1652 held a food drive at Stop & Shop on Temple Street to benefit Daniel’s Table in Framingham.

During the food drive, several city leaders stopped by including District 6 City Councilor Phil Ottaviani, who donated several gift cards, City Councilor Janet Leombruno, who donated several items, and District 2 School Committee member Ricky Finlay.

City Council candidate Mary Kate Feeney, who has been endorsed by the fire union, also did shopping at Stop & Shop and donated two grocery bags of food.

David Blais, one of the founders of Daniel’s Table, said the food donated will be used as part of the organizations food pantry.

The mission of Daniel’s Table, a Framingham-based organization, is to provide food security services to neighbors-in-need with dignity and respect.

Andrew Rokes, President of the fire union, said “yesterday was a huge success. We filled the whole fire engine and two pick up trucks with donations. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and donated!”

Rokes said the firefighters will hold another food drive after the holidays.
