NATICK – Joseph S. Kwiatkowski, 91.
Born of immigrant parents Lucy Smolinska and Jozef Kwiatkowski in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn, NY.
He joined the armed forces in 1951 as an army private and fought in the Korean War.
He was injured and sent aboard the USS Consolation (renamed SS Hope) hospital ship.
He met a medical corpsman aboard that ship that he later learned was his co-worker of over 30 years at the W.H. Nichols factory in Waltham, MA. He had many fond memories of his friend George( G G ).
He met Maria A Mayo, a volunteer at the Murphy Army Hospital in Waltham, and they married in 1953. They were to spend 62 years together. Joe and Maria enjoyed spending time in Fort Myers, FL, shuffled board, card games and casino trips.
Joe is survived by daughter Konnie Murphy of Wayland, granddaughters Meghan Murphy of San Diego, CA, Michaela Fleming of Holliston, MA, Marlena Murphy of Wayland, MA. Son-in-Law Matt, great grandchildren Marah and Mason. Neices, nephews and sister-in-law.
He is pre-deceased by wife Maria and son Joseph W.
As a result of the public health concerns and limitations established for large gatherings the Funeral Service and Interment will be private
