First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church in Framingham & the Ram’s Resource Center at Framingham State University teamed up to combat student food insecurity this summer.

For the past 16 weeks, ending 8/29/2024, we delivered fresh fruits and vegetables to the FSU Ram’s Resource Center.

Are you aware that there are students at Framingham State University who are food insecure? During the school year students have access to meals through cafeteria services. Unfortunately, during the summer break, these food services are unavailable and students have a difficult time finding healthy food choices.

This summer, First Parish teamed up with the FSU Student Support and Advocacy group to coordinate the delivery of fresh summer produce for students living on campus during this past summer. Greater Framingham Community Church and Edwards Church were also reliable partners in the effort.

From Sarah Ripton, Coordinator of Student Support & Advocacy: “Fresh fruits and veggies are essential and act as the best kind of healthcare maintenance we all deserve to access. First Parish’s efforts made that possible in a time when fresh produce is limited on campus, and the community service and collaboration were appreciated immensely.”
