Lorraine M. Keefe, 94, a longtime resident of Framingham, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, after a short period of declining health. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. & Madeline M. (Melanson) Keefe.

Lorraine attended schools in Boston and later in Framingham. She pursued various interests throughout her life, including maintaining a prolific backyard garden on Franklin Street. Lorraine dedicated countless hours to reading, often setting aside other activities to complete a book. Her love for crafting, particularly painting, flourished at Whitcomb House, where she found ample opportunities for artistic expression. Her passion for painting was nurtured by her sister-in-law, Maryanne Keefe, at Maryanne’s art studio in New York.

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Lorraine delighted in hand-sewing little books for her nieces and nephews’ children. These handmade books have become cherished treasures, even as the recipients have grown. Family always took precedence in Lorraine’s life, and she was a steadfast presence at gatherings. She volunteered generously, caring for her nieces and nephews whenever called upon. Lorraine worked for a time at New England Instrument and later at Framingham Union Hospital in the Linens Service Department.

Lorraine is survived by her brother, Thomas R. Keefe, and his wife Catherine of RI; her sister, Judith A. Phillips, and her husband William of NY; her sister-in-law, Maryanne Keefe; 32 nieces and nephews; and dear child Susan Shepardson, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her siblings: Eileen Bracken & her husband Charles, Pauline Kryzak, Marilyn Fournier, Michael J. O’Keefe, Joseph T. Keefe, and Donald Hubbard.

Family and friends will honor and remember Lorraine’s life by celebrating her Funeral Mass on Saturday morning, December 16th, in St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Rd., Framingham, at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Framingham.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Lorraine’s name to:
