BELLINGHAM – The MetroWest Boston Visitors Bureau will no longer produce MetroFest at Bowditch Field in Framingham.

Last year’s MetroFest was the last one.

“To align with current Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism spending guidelines, we will be investing in larger scale collaborative campaigns to market the region. This means while we will no longer be producing the MetroFest event, we will be able to support and promote a greater number of diverse events throughout MetroWest all year long,” said the Visitors Bureau Director Erin Lynch to SOURCE.

“We are tremendously grateful to the City of Framingham and Framingham State University for supporting our annual MetroFest event in the past, and we’re so pleased to see new events growing, such as the bountiful Framingham Farmers Market,” said Lynch.

The City of Framingham is already planning a new event to take MetroFest’s place.

The City of Framingham is hosting fireworks on Friday, June 30, announced the Mayor in January.

“One of the biggest attractions from MetroFest will take place at the fireworks event,” said Bill Sell, who said 18 to 20 food trucks covering a wide variety of ethnic options will be at the June 30th Framingham event at Farm Pond.

Sell said there will also be the best of July 4th food – hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ at the event too.

Sell, who is the Framingham Farmers’ Market manager, said he is adding 1-2 new food trucks to the market as well. The first Framingham Farmers’ Market will be at the Framingham Centre Common in June.
