FRAMINGHAM – The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Medal of Liberty was presented to the family of Technician Third Grade Charles Andrew Salvi on Friday, November 11, 2022, during the City of Framingham’s Veterans Day ceremony.

In total 10 medals of Liberty were awarded on Veterans Day in Nevins Hall in the Memorial Building, with five of the Gold Star families in attendance.

Salvi resided in Framingham on Mellen Street when he was drafted the United States Army.

Technician Third Grade Salvi was attached to the 7th Army, Company A, 253rd Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division and was fighting in the Province of Lorraine, Germany when he went missing in action.

Technician Third Grade Salvi gave the ultimate sacrifice on February 18, 1945 and was declared dead on April 6, 1945.

Accepting the Medal on behalf of Technician Third Grade Charles Andrew Salvi was his nephew, Charles Salvi, from Marlborough.
