1 Happy Diwali! Also called the Festival of Lights, Diwali is a Hindu religious festival and one of the most important festivals within Hinduism. It generally lasts five days, and is celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika. Today is the official day of the celebration in 2022.

Ashland and Hopkinton have schools closed for the holiday. Framingham is open.

2. Yesterday, a CSX train derailed just after 10 a.m. Route 135 at Cedar Street was closed all day. Even at midnight, the road was still closed.

At 5:30 a.m., Superintendent of Schools Bob Tremblay said the road is now passable, and that school buses will not have to be diverted.
