FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High boys cross-country team opened the season on Wednesday.

The Flyers lost to both the Rockets of Needham High and the Tigers of Newton North in the tri-meet at Farm Pond Park in Framingham.

The Flyers were missing nationally-ranked runner Sam Burgess, who is recovering from an injury.

Newton North defeated Framingham High 16-47.

Needham defeated Framingham High 20-43.

Newton North defeated Needham High 17-38.

The Tigers had the first three runners to cross the finish line. Senior Tyler Tubman won the race in 17:05 minutes.

Framingham’s best finisher was senior Andrew Hohenstein. His time was 18:16 minutes.

Benjamin Habeski was the second Flyer across the finish line. He was 17th in 19:26 minutes. Junior Matthew Viela was third for the Flyers in 19:43 minutes.

Next up for the Flyers is an away meet in Brookline against the Warriors of Brookline High and Braintree High.
