FRAMINGHAM – Freshman Sasha Lamkina won her first-ever varsity cross-country meet on Wednesday afternoon at Farm Pond Park in Framingham.

Running in her first-ever meet for Framingham High, she finished in 20.28 minutes in the 5,000-meter race, in a field of about 3 dozen runners.

The Flyers unfortunately, lost to both Newton North and Needham High in the season-opener tri-meet.

The Needham Rockets defeated the Tigers of Newton North 25-33.

Framingham lost to both the Rockets and the Tigers 20-43.

The Flyers are now 0-2 this season, under head coach Ed Crowley.

While Lamkina was the first to cross the finish line overall, the Flyers next runners across the finish line was not until 23rd overall.

Senior captain Chloe Mills was the second Flyer to cross the finish line in 24.24 minutes.

In 26th place overall was Framingham sophomore Marieme Ngom in 25.32 minutes.

In 27th place was Framingham sophomore Leisel Krohne in 25.34 minutes.

Senior Mia DeMore finished 28th overall in 25.34 minutes.

Senior Sam Steenbrugen, in her first varsity cross-country meet, finished 29th overall in 25.42 minutes.

Thirty-fine girls ran the varsity race in the tr-meet.

Next up for the Flyers is a road meet in Brookline against the Warriors and Braintree High.
