FRAMINGHAM – Richard M. Tavolieri, 67, died suddenly February 27, 2022.

Beloved husband of Bonnie (Marram), proud father of Deborah Tavolieri of Hampstead, NC and Rachel Walker (Brian) of Framingham. Doting Papa of Adriana and Devan Arrandale, and Aubrey and Ayden Walker all of Framingham. Loving son of Robert and Marge Tavolieri of Framingham and brother to Bobby, Jimmy and Donna.

Known to all as “Captain Rick” he was a self made man. He earned his Master Electrician license and started his own commercial outdoor lighting business, RD Lighting Associates. Many of the car dealerships, shopping malls, and restaurants in the Metrowest area and beyond featured efficient and well-lit parking lots designed for customer and employee safety – a testament to Rick’s number one priority of people first.

The Captain also earned his Merchant Marine Officer license from the United States Coast Guard. He loved the open waters and was the greatest host to family and friends, taking them on day trips to Worlds End, Salem, and dropping anchor on July 4th to listen to the Boston Pops perform the 1812 and have the best view of the spectacular fireworks that followed.

But most of all, Rick was devoted to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. Bonnie and Rick were childhood sweethearts, and neither had ever dated another.. To see each other as much as possible, they sacrificed alone time by agreeing to watch Bonnie’s younger brother and take him on their dates. Their love grew stronger and stronger over time, and they remained crazy for each other for over 40 years of marriage. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve were held at his house where he did the cooking. He was known for shrimp scampi, lobster tails, and making sure no one’s glass was ever empty. Of course, Rick’s greatest pride are his daughters. The Captain showered them with attention, every toy imaginable, and insisted they went with him and Bonnie on every vacation. Plus with the birth of each grandchild, he was always the beaming Papa, telling anyone who would listen how each one is the smartest, the most good looking, and the most talented.

He will be remembered by all for his love of friends and family and will be sorely missed.
A celebration of life will take place at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements by the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home of Framingham.
