FRAMINGHAM – Caesar P. “Al” Lopes, Jr., 95, a longtime resident of Framingham died Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Caesar & Mary (Fortes) Lopes.

Caesar was raised and educated in Cambridge, and like so many of his era he proudly served his country during WWII in the US Coast Guard.

After the war, he began a long career with the USPS working in elevator maintenance primarily at the South Postal Annex in Boston.

In his “retirement” he worked as a doorman at the Marriott in Boston, and later worked at Walmart well into his 90’s.

With a larger than life personality, Caesar enjoyed people and was kind to everyone he met.  He loved music, dancing, and enjoyed a good movie.

Caesar is survived by his son, Cory D. Lopes & his wife Natalie of Douglas, his grandchildren, Taylor and Tristan, his former wife Louise “Lou” (Cole) Lopes, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Caesar’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Thursday morning, January 20 from 8:30-10:30 AM.

His Funeral Mass will follow in St. Stephen Church, 821 Concord St. Framingham at 11 o’clock.

Interment will follow in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be considered in Caesar’s name to the charity of your choice.
