NATICK – The Framingham High boys varsity soccer team beat Natick 3-0 in the 25th George Wheeler Memorial Soccer Cup at Natick High tonight.

The Flyers took a 2-0 lead into the half on gritty goals by seniors Kaio Viegas and Sam Deveau. Viegas goal went unassisted but Deveau, was the recipient of an excellent assist from senior midfielder Patrick McIrney, explained Coach Jon Wood.

The second half was more of a stalemate as the Flyers controlled play and protected the lead.

The game was secured when Deveau assisted senior Gui Mendes on the third goal of the night, said Coach Wood.

Defensively senior captain John Halpin was impenetrable and won every ball that came his wa, said Coach Wood.

The Flyers are now 8-1-3 and qualified for the state tournament with the victory.

The Flyers will travel to Wellesley on Tuesday afternoon for a game against the Raiders.
