FRAMINGHAM – Firefighters quickly & aggressively extinguished a dumpster fire at a Hollis Street home this afternoon, May 4, said Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher.

The one-alarm fire was called in about 3 p.m. at 434 Hollis Street.

“Engine 3 responded initially, but due to updated information from passers-by, the response was upgraded to  Engine 5, Ladder 3, Rescue 1 and Car 2,” said Chief Dutcher.

Firefighters found a “fully involved dumpster with extension to the siding of the home,” when they arrived, said the Fire Chief.

“Crews checked for interior extension of fire but found none,” said the Chief.

“Quick, aggressive work by on scene companies limited the damage,” said Chief Dutcher.

The fire chief estimated the damage at about $10,000.

The fire is currently being investigated by the Framingham Fire Prevention Division but appears to be accidental, said Chief Dutcher.

The 2-family home is currently being renovated.

No one was injured.

Part of Hollis Street from Nipmuc to Winthrop was blocked off by Framingham Police while firefighters were battling the fire.

” Thanks to the Police Dept for keeping our work area safe,” said Chief Dutcher.
