BOSTON – The National Weather Service out of Boston has issued a special alert for thunderstorms in metroWest, especially Framingham, Natick & Marlborough until 2:30 p.m. today, April 9.

At 1:08 p.m.EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Framingham, moving northeast at 35 mph.

Penny size hail. possible, was announced with first storm. Second storm says pea-sized hail possible.

Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include… Lowell, Newton, Framingham, Waltham, Arlington, Billerica, Woburn, Chelmsford, Natick, Watertown, Lexington, Tewksbury, Needham, Wellesley, Wakefield, Reading, Belmont, Burlington, Wilmington and Acton.

Get indoors when you hear thunder. Do not resume outdoor activities until at least 30 minutes after the storm has passed.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. For your safety, go indoors or to your vehicle.
