1 Today is Ash Wednesday and the start of the Lenten season for Western Christians. Ash Wednesday signifies the start of Lent, a seven-week period where Catholics give up luxuries to reflect the 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert, fasting and praying. Lent ends on Easter Sunday, to celebrate Jesus rising from the dead following his execution.

2. Post-season athletics

• Framingham High girls ice hockey hosts Central Catholic at 7 p.m. at Loring Arena in an MIAA playoff game.
• The Learning Center for the Deaf boys basketball team hosts a playoff game today at 4 p.m. in Framingham.
• Framingham High boys basketball team’s season ended last night with a playoff loss in the Division 1 tourney to Haverhill High.
• Framingham State University’s men’s ice hockey team’s season ended last night in the semifinals of the MASCAC tournament.

3 Mayor Charlie Sisitsky will speak at the Framingham Business Association meeting today. he is also scheduled to meet with Senator Ed Markey’s regional director today and attend the School Committee meeting tonight.

4. CITY OF FRAMINGHAM MEETINGS (all remote unless otherwise noted):

• Framingham School Committee at 7 p.m. – This is a hybrid meeting. The public can attend in person at the Blumer room in the Memorial Building or watch via Zoom, on Facebook or via the Government Channel.

5. The Ashland and Framingham public libraries have combined for a virtual program with New York Times bestselling author Janice Nimera tonight. Nimura will conduct a one-hour presentation based on her new New York Times bestselling book, The Doctors Blackwell: How Two Pioneering Sisters Brought Medicine to Women and Women to Medicine.
