John O’Rourke, Jr. 84, Educator, Salute To Framingham Recipient, & Framingham North & South Track & Field Coach

FRAMINGHAM – John J. O’Rourke, Jr. 84, formerly of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and Framingham, died Sunday, October 3, 2021.

Born and raised in Worcester, he was the son of the late John J. O’Rourke, Sr. and Helen (Sullivan) O’Rourke.

He was the loving husband of 55 years to Maureen Frances (Duffy) O’Rourke.

John graduated from St. Peter’s High School in Worcester.   He received his Bachelor degree and Master degree (1962) both from Worcester State College.

He taught mathematics at the Brynmawr School in Auburn, MA from 1962-1966, and for over 32 years from 1965 – 1997 taught at various middle schools in Framingham.  

He also coached Track and Field at both Framingham North and South High Schools with many winning seasons and was a recipient of the “Salute to Framingham” honor in 1994.

John was a member of the Framingham Lodge of Elks, BPOE 1264.

Besides his wife Maureen, he is survived by their sons, John J. O’Rourke III of Saco, ME, Terrence O’Rourke and his wife Christina of Waterville, ME, and Stephen O’Rourke and his wife Jennifer of Sudbury; grandchildren, Kyle O’Rourke, Ashley Beaulieu and her husband Aaron, Ryland O’Rourke and, Korinne O’Rourke. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert O’Rourke and his wife Joanne of Worcester, Peter O’Rourke and his wife Mary of Shrewsbury and Mary Dudley and her late husband Lesley of Worcester.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 1 -4 p.m. at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St. (corner of Union Ave.), Framingham,

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. St. Stephen Church, 251 Concord Street (Rt. 126) Framingham. 

A private burial will take place at a later date.
