John P. “Jack” O’Neill, 85, a longtime resident of Framingham died Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at home with his family by his side. Born in Newton, he was the son of the late Dennis & Catherine (Regan) O’Neill, and the beloved husband of the late Margaret “Peggy” (Sullivan) O’Neill.

Jack was raised and educated in Newton, and graduated from Our Ladies High School. He was a proud “double eagle” earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from Boston College. He served his country proudly in Army Intelligence Corps, assigned to the 109th in PA. After his discharge he worked for several Defense Dept. contractors, and was Security Director at C.S. Draper Laboratory, Inc for 29 years.

Jack is survived by his family, his daughter, whom he was extremely proud of and who cared for him during his health struggles, Erin Barriere & her husband Steve of Westborough, his cherished grandsons, Griffin & Garrett of Westborough, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife Peggy, Jack was predeceased by his sisters, Peggy O’Neill Dowling and Catherine Ann O’Neill.

Jack was a family man and he and Peggy settled in Framingham where they raised their daughter Erin. They enjoyed wintering in Sarasota, FL and summering in Falmouth on Cape Cod with their daughter, son in law and their grandsons. Jack rarely missed rooting his grandsons on at their ice hockey games and sporting events. He loved to golf with friends, but especially with his son in law and his grandsons.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jack’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Wednesday morning, June 4th from 8:30 – 9:30AM. His Funeral Mass will follow in St. George Church, 74 School St. Framingham at 10 o’clock. Interment in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15PM.
