Gertrude “Trudé” (Canelos) Zampino, 72, a longtime resident of Framingham and formerly Needham, died Tuesday, May 28, 2024 with her family by her side. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late James & Gertrude (Neugebauer) Canelos, and the beloved wife of Paul Zampino.
Raised and educated in Newton, Trudé was a graduate of Newton North High School. She met the loved of her life Paul shortly after, settling in Needham where they would live for the next 27 years. Trudé was a talented artist, and worked for over 40 years painting murals for the Roche Brothers/Sudbury Farms chains. She also taught art in St. Joseph School in Needham. After moving to Framingham, she worked for Home Depot until her retirement.
Trudé loved the sunshine and spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren. Besides her husband Paul, she is survived by her daughters, Lisa Peters & her husband Gary of Framingham, Rachel Arujo & her husband Rod of Natick, and her son Alex Zampino & his wife Shanna of Gilbert, AZ, and her grandchildren, Sebastian, Lilly, Theo, Bradyn, Olivia, Asa, and Isaac.
Family and friends will honor and remember her life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Sunday, June 2nd from 1-4PM.
