Carmen Maria Cruz Cruz, 82, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Tuesday, May 28, 2024 after a period of declining health. Born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Luis and Concepcion Cruz, and the beloved wife of the late Jose Cruz Torres.
Carmen grew up in a farming community in Puerto Rico, and suffered from Polio at the age of 5. She met the love of her life, Jose at a carnival, and that ride just kept going from there. They settled in Framingham in 1984 where they would raise their 7 children.
Carmen was a woman of deep Catholic Faith, which was just as important as her love for her family. She loved music, to sing and dance, and enjoyed some good old fashioned karaoke. For Carmen, time was best spent with her large family.
Carmen is survived by her sons, Jose, Feliu, Luis, and Neftali Cruz, her daughters, Rhodel Santiago, Raquel Cruz, and Yolanda I. Cruz, her grandsons, Jose, Felix, Jorge, Francisco, and Jayden Cruz, her granddaughters, Nayelie Cruz Zepeda, Kareena Cruz, and Lillian Cruz, her siblings, Teresa, Olga, Elba, and Josian Cruz, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, and her beloved husband Jose, Carmen was predeceased by her son, Jeranfel Cruz, and her siblings, Gela Aida, Ana, Rafo and Cheo Cruz.
Family and friends will honor and remember Carmen’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Saturday morning, June 1st in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham from 9-10:45 AM. Her funeral services will begin at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in Edgell Grove Cemetery, Framingham.
