BOSTON – Framingham’s Daria Lamakina finished second in the Boston Athletic Association’s middle school 1K yesterday in Boston.

She finished second out of 16 middle school girls, who participated in the event.

His time was 5.26 minutes.

A 1K equals about 0.62 miles.

Newton’s Adelle Dupere just edged her out to take first place in the event.

Each community along the Boston Marathon route can submit two female and two male middle school runners for the event.

The girls and boys races are independent of each other.

There is also a high school division, where runners run a mile.

Charlotte Ellis of Ashland finished 8th overall.

Sophia Warnetski of Ashland took 9th place overall.

Framingham’s Grace Catella crossed the finish line in 10th place.

Natick’s Lilly Wheeler crossed the finish line in 12th place, with Natick Margaret Armstrong 14th overall.
