Why run Boston? Why not? What other event can a regular person participate in with world class athletes? It’s like being invited to play in the Super Bowl with Tom Brady at Bowditch field, with all your family and friends watching. Seriously, I remember bringing my kids to watch the runners coming through Framingham and thinking I’d like to try that someday. It’s awesome that Team Framingham gives us the chancemto make our dreams come true.

Which charity are you raising money for?  Hoops & Homework

Why did you pick that charity? Hoops & Homework brings its after school program directly to the neighborhoods that need it the most. Instead of sitting alone in an empty apartment, or hanging around on the corner, kids can go to a safe place, get help with their homework, or just hang out with friends. They even offer meals and have summertime programs. It’s a fantastic program!

How did you first get into running? Just to stay in shape. Once it becomes part of your routine it’s enjoyable.

Why do you like to run? I like to be outside. It helps with fitness. And it’s a great stress reducer.

Tell SOURCE something about your training for the marathon: I prefer trail running to running on roads. It’s like a walk in the woods but at the same time I’m training. I do most of my runs on the Weston and Hultman aqueducts and at Callahan state park. These are great resource we have here in Framingham.

What is your favorite cross-training activity? Rowing or cycling.

Do you prefer to train alone or with others? Why? Alone or with my dog. He’s very accommodating to my work schedule and running pace.

Are you an early morning runner or evening runner? Morning.

How do you stay motivated when you don’t want to run? It’s getting through the not-so-good days that make the good days feel so amazing.

Music or no music when running? If music, favorite song? No music if I’m running outside. But on the treadmill at the Y, Shakira.

What is your favorite pre-running meal? Blueberry pancakes.

What is your favorite post-run snack? Usually anything with salt. After a long run I need a meal. And of course on Marathon Monday a frosty beverage or two might be in order.

Tell SOURCE readers something about you that has nothing to do with running: I am a returned US Peace Corps Volunteer and I enjoy travel.

What shoes will you wear on Marathon day? Hoka

What is your goal for the 2023 Boston Marathon?  Just to finish and make it home for dinner. But if there’s a strong tailwind, I’d love to match my daughter’s time from last year.

Will you wear anything personal or symbolic the day of the 2023 Boston Marathon? Why? I’m not sure it still fits, but maybe the shirt my kids designed for me when I ran in 2011.
