FRAMINGHAM – In January of 2022, Fire Dough Kitchen announced it was coming to Framingham.

But the establishment never opened until September 2022, and come 2023 it was closed again.

In February of 2022, the owner of Fire Dough Kitchen brought pizzas to the Coburnville-Tripoli Neighborhood Association meeting at Barbieri Elementary School. The owner told the crowd he was looking to open near Marathon Monday.

But Fire Dough Kitchen at 624 Waverley Street didn’t start serving food until Mid-September 2022.

Before the Framingham location opened, the original Fire Dough Kitchen location in Sudbury closed.

The establishment had a soft opening starting September 18, 2022.

But by January 2023, the establishment was closed again.

Residents in the neighborhood reached out to the SOURCE to find out why.

SOURCE emailed the owner, but received no response.

The City said the establishment, which sold pizza, sandwiches, and salads, does not have any licenses to operate in 2023.

Fire Dough Kitchen did not renewed their food establishment permit for 2023, said Framingham Assistant health Director Robin Williams.

“The Health Department has made several attempts to contact the establishment’s owner,” said Williams. “We have not been successful.”

“The operator of Fire Dough Kitchen never received a full occupancy permit and were operating under a temporary occupancy permit,” said City of Framingham Building Inspector Fred Bray to SOURCE.

“The reason for this is that they installed a wood stove (for cooking) improperly and were only permitted to cook with equipment other than the wood stove,” said Bray. “They never came back to us with proper documentation for the wood stove.”

“I don’t know when they closed, but they have and it does not appear that they will reopen,” Bray told SOURCE yesterday, February 23.
