ASHLAND – Martha Eliza Cave, 81 beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully February 4, 2023 at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. 

She was born on November 20, 1941 in St. Patricks, Montserrat, the daughter of William Pond and Mary Ann O’Garro.

Martha moved to St. Croix, USVI when she was about 18 years old and resided there for over 50 years.  She was a member of the Redemptorist parish of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Christiansted.  After leaving St. Croix, she also resided in New York, Newton, MA, and South Florida.  Pat, as she was fondly known, was funny, adventurous, and stubborn, but also very kind.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Alice Ponde Skerritt (Baby Ann).

She is survived by her beloved son Robert M. Jones, III and his wife Natalie Arjune-Jones and granddaughter Jasmine Jones of Ashland; siblings, James, Christy, Kathleen, Henrietta, Sarah, Veronica and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. in St. Matthew’s Parish, 26 Highland St. Southborough, with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. 

Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland.
