FRAMINGHAM – The Principal at Potter Road Elementary School is leaving the Framingham Public School District after almost 2 decades.

Potter Road Elementary Principal Larry Wolpe will become the principal of the Douglas School in Acton.

“It is with bittersweet emotions that I share with you that I have accepted an elementary principal position in a neighboring community. I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my ten years at Potter Road Elementary School, both as assistant principal and then principal. Before that, I worked at Stapleton School teaching fourth grade. During my time at Potter and in Framingham, I’ve had the privilege of implementing the dual language Portuguese program, overseeing the beginning of our core values, “Be Kind, Be Safe, and Work Hard,” and witnessed the addition of many wonderful new and exciting curricula,” wrote Wolpe to families today, February 13.

Wolpe was named Principal at Potter Road Elementary School in early 2018, and took over in the leadership of the school for the 2018-19 school year.

Wolpe has been the Assistant Principal at Potter Road Elementary School in Framingham since 2012, before being promoted.

“I want to sincerely thank the amazing Potter Road community for welcoming me into their lives over the past decade. From our incredible staff and families to our most important and precious resource, our students, Potter Road is a special place that I’ll always hold close to my heart. Collectively, we’ve made too many memories to mention and for that, I thank you,” wrote Wolpe to families.

Prior to that, he was an elementary teacher at Mary E. Stapleton Elementary School in Framingham.

A graduate of Ithaca College, he earned his Masters in Elementary Education from Lesley University.

“Please know that I remain fully committed to Potter Road, our students, and our families through the end of this academic year. I look forward to new professional challenges, but can’t wait to see what the future holds for Potter Road! Framingham Public Schools is committed to finding Potter Road’s next amazing principal and will begin the search for a replacement very soon,” wrote Wolpe today.

Potter Road Elementary lost its vice principal before the start of the 2022-23 school year. She made a lateral change to the New Bedford Public Schools.
