FRAMINGHAM – The MPWS (Marie Philip/Walden School) Varsity Girls Basketball team won the 2023 Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletic Association Division I championship over the weekend, defeating Western Pennsylvania School.
The framingham-based team won 37-31.
Senior Samantha Fernsebner, (Franklin), Junior Valerie Salgado (Lawrence), and Eighth Grader Stella Ciulla (Dedham) were named to the All Star team, while Sophomore Faith Kirlis (Bridgewater) was named the championship game MVP!
In total, five schools participated in the tournament, which took place at TLC.
Coaches Amanda Geffen and Bruce Saperstein guided the squad to their first ESDAA championship in 14 years.
