FRAMINGHAM – Firefighters extinguished a 2:30 a.m. fire today, February 5, on Upper Jocyln Avenue.

Framingham Fire received a call at 9 Upper Joclyn Avenue for delayed ignition of an oil burner at 2:30 a.m., said Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher.

Framingham Engine 1, Engine 2, Tower 1, Rescue 1 & Car 2 responded.

On arrival, Engine 2 investigated and found fire had extended from the boiler to the walls around the boiler, said Chief Dutcher.

Crews quickly opened up the walls in the area and extinguished the fire, said Chief Dutcher.

“Quick thinking by the homeowner limited the damage, as they were able to shut down the boiler at the remote switch when they noticed a problem,” said Chief Dutcher.

“It is really important to know where that switch is, in a situation like this.  If you can safely cut power to the unit, it definitely can help lessen the problem,” said the Framingham Fire Chief.
