ASHLAND – An Massachusetts doctor arrested earlier this week by the FBI at her Ashland home, was ordered to surrender her passport.

Dr. Jacquelyn Starer, 68, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the insurrection at the U.S. capitol on January 6, 2021.

The U.S. Justice Department charged her with felony civil disorder, assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers, and entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building as well as engaging in physical violence in a restricted building.

Dr. Starer’s was arraigned and released. Per the release, she has to surrender her passport, is prohibited from traveling to Washington D.C. except to attend matters of court, and forbidden from unlawfully entering any state or federal buildings.

In addition to U.S. citizenship, Starer holds Austrian citizenship, according to the Boston Globe

She was ordered not to consume alcohol excessively or any drugs and submit to testing. She is prohibited from possessing any firearms.

Police body camera video shows Starer as she strikes a female Metropolitan Police Department officer inside the Capitol’s rotunda, according to the affidavit filed.

The officer told authorities investigating the attack a “blonde woman wearing a red hat and jacket punched her in the left side of her head.”

Starer, who specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, was first licensed to practice in the Commonwealth in 1983.

On Tuesday, “Jacquelyn J. Starer, MD is affiliated with Brigham and Women’s Hospital and specializes in Internal Medicine in Jamaica Plain”.” was on the Brigham & Women’s Hospital website but it was later removed.

“Per hospital policy, the only information we are able to share is employment status. This individual was a per diem employee who is no longer active at our organization,” released the hospital in a statement on Tuesday.

Dr. Starer is listed with Downes Therapeutics LLC in Natick. “Dr. Starer graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine & Public Health in 1979. She works in Natick, MA and 2 other locations and specializes in Addiction Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology and Obstetrics & Gynecology.”

She has served as the president of the Massachusetts Society of Addiction Medicine.

The Ashland doctor is the 19th person from the area to be arrested and charged in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. More than 900 people have been arrested from across the country in connection with the Capitol breach, including more than 270 who are facing charges for assaulting or impeding law enforcement, according to authorities, according to the FBI.
