FRAMINGHAM – Under first-year head coach Dan Riva, the Framingham High boys won the Cahoon Cup and qualified for post-season play. They lost the opening round MIAA game.

With nine seniors on the varsity team, the Flyers are looking to do better than their #24 ranking in the MIAA post-season tournament.

Fifty-three athletes tried out for varsity this season, with 25 making the cut, said Coach Riva.

Justin Nichols will wear the C for the Flyers in 2022-23, with Stephen Boulas, junior Noah Albright, and Will Garretson, with the “A”.

“Our leadership crew is very much a lead by example group on and off the ice,” said Coach Riva. “As student-athletes they take their academics as seriously as they do hockey.  They do a great job shepherding the culture we’re building including academics, athletics and community.”

Davin Nichols is the Flyers top scorer returning to varsity.

“Davin is a strong, skilled player, who brings a lot of passion and intensity and is a threat every timer he’s on the ice,” said Coach Riva.

Junior Troy Huber returns as the Flyers starting goaltender, said Coach Riva.

Seniors on the squad are Shea Callahan, Will Garretson, Billy Neiberger, Boulas, Michael St. Cyr, Bryan Guen, John Yerardi and both Nichols.

The Flyers will open the season with Bay State Conference rival Natick High on the road on December 14 at 7:40 p.m. at Chase Arena.

The Flyers first home game is December 17 against the Tigers of Newton North at Loring Arena.
