FRAMINGHAM – Moms Demand Action, Edwards Church, and Open Spirit will hold a vigil to mark the 10th anniversary of the “horrific Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting..”
The public is invited to attend the event at 6 p.m. at Edwards Churcg at 39 Edwards Street in Framingham.
“We must never forget the 26 innocent lives that were taken on that terrible day,” posted organizers. “All community members are invited to this vigil to remember, grieve together, and find comfort in one another.”
Since the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, there have been 27 mass shootings in U.S. schools, according to the Gun Violence Archive, a non-profit organization that collects gun violence reports from media, government, law enforcement and commercial sources.

Sandy Hook was deadliest mass shooting at an elementary school in U.S. history, On December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut, a 20-year-old gunman shot and killed 26 people. Twenty of the victims were children between six and seven years old, and the other six were adult staff members. The gunman killed himself before police could get to him.
In the last decade, there have been 19 shootings at elementary schools and eight at colleges or universities.
Earlier this year in May, 19 children and two adults were killed in a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde County. It is deadliest shooting ever at a Texas public school.
