FRAMINGHAM – There was not much to celebrate in the first half of the World Cup game between Brazil and Serbia earlier today, November 24.

In the World Cup opener for the #1-ranked Brazil was scoreless after the first half.

But in the second half, Richarlison de Andrade, known as Richarlison, scored two goals to lead Brazil to victory.

The World Cup game was held on the American holiday of Thanksgiving, and Brazilian took to downtown Framingham to celebrate and show their pride just after 4 p.m.

The celebration was loud, joyful but with little issues.

The only major issue was individuals in vehicles hanging out windows without seatbelts and standing through sun roofs waiving Brazilian flags and futsal jerseys.

The celebration lasted about an hour.

About 500-600 people watched the game at 135 Grill on Route 135 with another 250 to 300 people at Tropical Cafe on Route 126

World Cup soccer is typically played in June & July but for the 2022 World Cup games are being played in November & December as Qatar, the host, has extreme temperatures in the summer.

Brazil is in Group G for the opening round of games.

Brazil will play Switzerland on Monday, November 28 at 11 a.m. EST

Brazil last round G game is Friday, December 2 against Cameroon at 2 p.m.

On December 3, the teams are reduced to 16.

The finals are on December 18.
