FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High girls swim & dive team finished 9th overall at the Division 1 state meet today, November 13.

The Flyers, under head coach Mike Foley, received 114 points.

Acton-Boxborough Regional won the state team championship with 299 points.

Framingham Junior Emily Richardson finished 6th overall in diving with 355 points.

Teammate Kat Barry was 11th overal with 315 points.

Junior Ashwina Bangari finished 7th in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:03.42 minutes and 7th in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.06 minutes.

Bangari transferred to the Massachusetts Academy of Math & Science in Worcester from Framingham High this year, but since the Academy has no swim team, she received a waiver to compete still for Framingham High.

Two of Framingham High’s relays teams placed 8th overall, including the medley relay.

Bay State Conference rival Brookline High won the medley relay in 1:50.91 minutes. Framingham swimmers finished in 8th place in 1;59.76 minutes. Swimmers were Amy DiPasquale, sophomore Marie Scanlon, Bangari, and senior Emma Angelo.

The Flyers finished 8th in the sprit relay. Swimmers Scanlon, Angelo, Bella Bowen, and Emma Bowen touched the wall in 1:49.43 minutes.

Individually, Scanlon was 12th overall in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.09 minutes.

Scanlon was 18th and Angelo 24th overall in the sprint event at states.

Framingham’s Sasha Tsizer was 11th overall in the distance event. She swam the 500-yard freestyle race in 5:50.69 minutes.

Tsizer finished 15th overall in the 200-yard freestyle event in 2:09.66 minutes.

In the final event of the night, Framingham finished 10th in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Swimmers Angelo, Emma Bowen, Tsizer and Bangari touched the wall in 3:57.41 minutes.
