FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham unified basketball team, in its last home game of the season, netted their first win of the season yesterday, October 26.

The Flyers defeated the Tigers of Newton North High by one point.

Final score was 58-57 Framingham.

Flyers are now 1-3 this season.

The final game of the season is scheduled for Tuesday, November 1 on the road against the Rockets of Needham High School.

A unified sports team combines athletes with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team.

“It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding,” according to Special Olympics.

The Framingham unified basketball program is co-ed, and first began at Framingham High with the 2018-2019 season.

Framingham High has a unified basketball team in the fall and a unified track & field team in the spring.
