BOSTON – The Christa McAuliffe Charter School’s cross-country team traveled to Boston last Wednesday, October 19, to take on Roxbury Prep’s team in an away meet at Franklin Park.

The 1.2 mile loop course included trail, asphalt and gravel running, as well as a few small but mighty hills.

McAuliffe athletes took the first four places in the meet.

Team Captain Dylan Wheeler, an eighth grader, finished the course in first place with a time of 6:47 minutes.

Co-Captain Grace Catella, a sixth grader, finished on his heels in 7.52 minutes.

Connor Chviruk and Cecil Kenney, both in seventh grade, crossed the line in 8.20 and 8.28 minutes.

The boys won the meet 24-30.

The girls team, though equally impressive in their performances, did not have enough athletes to score winning points.

The team looks forward to attending the league meet and finishing their season the following weekend with a Championship meet in Devens, Massachusetts.
