FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham State field hockey team cruised to a 8-0 win over UMass Dartmouth in Little East play Saturday morning at Maple Street Field in Framingham. 

Framingham State improved to 3-3 in the Conference and are 7-4 overall.

UMass Dartmouth drops to 2-8 overall and is winless in the Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • In the 10th minute of the first the Rams got on the board when Isabella Kondi finished a one-time pass from Brandi Core for the 1-0 lead.  
  • The Corsairs had a breakaway in the following moments but Rams keeper Kaitlin Loughlin stepped up to clear the shot from danger. 
  • A few ticks later the Rams scored again after Abby Clark sent in a long pass that was gathered by Corlene Guenard and finished off inside the left post.  
  • The Rams scored two goal in the second frame, first Guenard scored in the 17th minute then Core got in the action in the 19th minute to send the teams to the break with the Rams up 4-0.  
  • Clark, Kondi, Guenard and Emma Bailey all scored in the second half to reach the final margin.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Hannah Trombly made ten stops in net for the Corsairs 
  • Kaitlin Loughlin earned the win making three saves in the first half before giving way to Angelina Barrett. 
  • The Rams outshot the Corsairs 27-to-8 despite the Corsairs having 13 corners to the Rams six.  

  • The Rams return to action when they continue LEC at Southern Main on Tuesday evening.
  • The Corsairs travel to Westfield State on the same day.
