AMHERST – University of Massachusetts placed three runners in the top-10 en route to a second-place finish out of four schools at the UVM invitational, the team’s season opener, at Hard’Ack Recreation Area this weekend.

The Minutemen posted a team score of 51, while UMass Lowell won the meet (28), Vermont was third (56) and Stonehill fourth (104).

Framingham High alumni Ben Burgess led UMass with a fourth place finish overall. His time was 23:53.50.

Burgess is a senior, who will graduate in 2023.

UMass will be back in action next Saturday, Sept. 10, hosting the Ken O’Brien Minuteman Invitational at the UMass cross country course.
