FRAMINGHAM – Eleanor E. Torelli, 79, of Framingham passed away Monday Aug. 29, 2022 with her family by her side. 

Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Eleanor (Roverano) Geneseo. 

Ellie, an Ashland High School and Chandler School for Women Graduate, worked as a bus driver and office manager for Ed & Al’s Bus Company for 38 years, transporting students for Keefe Tech in Framingham and later drove for Michael J. Connolly Bus Transportation.

Ellie is a charter member of the Greater Ashland Lions Club who dedicated over 40 years to the club serving several terms as president. As a member she was a recipient of the prestigious Melvin Jones Humanitarian award, Ken Lake service award, Lions Club International New Voices award, and the SIGHT award.

She has dedicated herself and her time to numerous organizations including The Friends of Ashland Council on Aging, Natick Sons of Italy, The Columbus Club, Ashland American Legion, The Ashland Emergency Fund, The Ashland Senior Center, the Framingham Eagles, Project Just Because, Rise up for Hunger, and Relay for Life. In 2019 she was honored as a Massachusetts Unsung Heroine.

In addition to her endless work with local clubs she was talented at sewing, knitting, and all sorts of crafts. For years she helped her grandchildren make something out of nothing for their school projects. She loved those projects and time spent with them. Ellie loved yard sales, collecting, and could not resist a bargain. She was as stubborn as she was generous. She was an extremely caring person who will be missed by all who knew her.

Ellie is survived by two daughters who adored her: Marie Harrington and her husband Michael of Ashland, and Laurie Giorgio and her husband David of Ashland; four grandchildren, Joseph and Jason Harrington, and Anna and Dominic Giorgio; brother, Peter Geneseo of Chesterfield, NH and his wife Joan, sister in law, Lauretta Safstrom and her husband John of Ashland.  She was the sister of the late Robert Geneseo and the late Richard Geneseo and his wife Jean.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St,. Ashland, MA. 

Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 3 to 5:45 PM prior to the service.
