FRAMINGHAM – John Y. Cheng of Framingham, passed away peacefully at the age of 83, surrounded by his family, on Monday June 20, 2022.

John was born in Xing Hua City, Jiangsu Province, China, in 1938.

He immigrated to the United States from Taiwan in 1965, and married Delia Wong in 1968.

After earning degrees in international law and physics, John made a name for himself in international marketing and sales through the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, culminating in his position of General Manager at Barber Coleman Corp. in 1994.

After he retired, John played golf daily at Framingham’s Millwood Farms golf course; practiced his lifelong love of Chinese calligraphy and painting; and played lots of Mah Jong with friends.

John leaves his wife Delia Cheng; son, daughter-in law, and granddaughter Corey, Magaly, and Esperanza Cheng; brother and sister-in-law Hao and Anna Cheng; sister Cheng-Chi Hsu; and several nieces and nephews.

We invite you to John’s memorial service, to be held on Friday, July 1 from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services at 318 Union Avenue in Framingham, MA 01701.

John’s nephew, Pastor David Hsu of West Houston Chinese Church, will be leading the service.

John loved the arts but didn’t necessarily have a green thumb! So, in lieu of sending flowers, donations can be made in Dad’s memory to the Museum of Chinese in America in New York (MOCA, https://www.mocanyc.org/get-involved/donate/).
