ASHLAND – Alva H. O’Donnell, 92, of Ashland passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022. 

Born in St. Marys, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Katherine (Siecker) Holland. 

She was the wife of the late Thomas W. O’Donnell who died in 2000. 

Alva worked as a switchboard operator for Sears Company in Natick for over 30 years.

In her early years, Alva made two cross country trips, was a Powder Puff race car driver, and loved horses. In later years she enjoyed time spent at the family cottage in New Hampshire, family reunions, and even made her way to Alaska. She was an avid New England Patriots fan and the highlight of the week was watching “her” team play.

Mrs. O’Donnell is survived by three children, Tod O’Donnell and his wife Judy of Westborough, Kelly O’Donnell of Ashland, and Kim Capobianco and her husband Steven of Sutton, seven grandchildren, Jarrod, Jacqueline, Shane, Kendyl, Kelsey, Connor, and Carley, and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Reese, sister, Margie Holland of Bradford, PA, and brother, Rocky Holland of Kane, PA, and over 115 nieces and nephews.  She was the mother of the late Mark J. O’Donnell.

A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday May 25 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Matthew Parish, 26 Highland Street in Southboro, with an urn burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. 

One visiting hour will be held Wednesday from 8:30-10 a.m. prior to the Mass at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland, MA.

In lieu of flowers donations in Alva’s name may be made to Baypath Humane Society,  500 Legacy Farms N, Hopkinton, MA 01748
