ASHLAND – Norma Frances Taylor-Wenzell, 94 of Ashland, passed away at her home on Monday, March 14, 2022.

Born and raised in Somerville, Norma was the daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice (Stiles) Barchard.

She met her first husband, William (Bill) Taylor while attending a USO dance at Wright Patterson Air Force base where she also worked.  The two were married in 1952 and started a family back in Miamisburg Ohio.  They moved to Westport, Massachusetts as Norma missed the Ocean, and eventually settled in Ashland where they raised their family. 

Norma re-married in 1991 to Donald Wenzell and they enjoyed many wonderful years together.  Norma loved spending time with family most of all and always looked forward to getting together.  She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, listening to music, attending social events, and partying with friends. Some of her best times were had in West Dennis where she and her friend Barbara Thedford both owned cottages.  Many hours spent on the beach, fun times at the Sandbar Inn, and many performances at the The Cape Playhouse.

Norma is survived by her children; Dayne Randall Taylor of Ashland, Robert B. Taylor of Ashland, and Janice A. (Taylor) Hutchinson and husband Mark of Framingham. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan, Meghan, Jeff, Kolby, Shelby, Robert, Michael, Phillip, Chris, and Jeff, and 4 great grandchildren.  Nieces Terry and Cheri, and nephew Barry and extended family.  In addition to her parents, Norma is predeceased by her son William Earl Taylor Jr., her first husband, William Earl Taylor Sr., her second husband Donald E. Wenzell, and her brother Charles Barchard and his wife Hazel.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Norma for a period of visitation on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 11 a.n. until noon in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street, Ashland, MA 01721.

Her funeral service will be held following the visitation at noon in the funeral home.

Burial to follow at Wildwood Cemetery, 76 Chestnut Street in Ashland.
