MYRTLE BEACH, SOUTH CAROLINA – The Framingham State University baseball team scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game and three in the top of the 10th to secure an 8-5 victory this afternoon over Albertus Magnus College in non-conference action at Ebbets Field. 

This was the first win of the season for the Rams, who are now 1-6.

Albertus Magnus drops to 0-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

  • Albertus Magnus built a 4-0 lead with two runs apiece in the bottom of the fourth on a two run homer by Matthew Silverste and two in the bottom of the sixth on a two run double from Jason Sullivan. 
  • The Rams got on the board in the top of the seventh. Chris Iannetta and Robert Johnston led off the inning with back-to-back singles. Iannetta came around to score the first run as Albertus attempted to get Johnston stealing second. Johnston then came around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Kevin Girardin. 
  • Albertus added their final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh pushing the lead to 5-2. 
  • The Rams responded with three in the top of the eight tying the game. Cam Sanchez was hit by a pitch and then scored on a Johnston RBI single to left. Ryan Boyle followed with a triple plating Johnston and Boyle came around to score the game tying run on an RBI single by Kennedy Wilson. 
  • After a scoreless ninth, the Rams scored the decisive three runs in the top of the 10th. The Rams loaded the bases after a pair of walks and a catcher’s interference with one out. Wilson followed with his second RBI base hit of the game putting the Rams on top 6-5. Girardin was hit by a pitch with them loaded driving in the second run and Boyle tallied the final run of the game when he scampered home on a wild pitch. 
  • Sean LeTarte who came on in relief in the ninth, earned the victory for the Rams retiring Albertus in the ninth and 10th including a pair of strikeouts. 
  • Jack Foley started on the mound for the Rams and went six and two thirds allowing four runs on four hits with six strikeouts. Jorgell Diaz worked a scoreless inning of relief for the Rams. 
  • Wilson finished the game with a pair of hits and a pair of RBI, while Girardin also drove in two. 

UP NEXT: The Rams are back in action on Thursday when they face Suffolk at 3 p.m.
