BOSTON – Framingham High junior Sam Burgess won the state championship in the 2 mile at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Saturday, February 26.

The Flyers track & field captain finished in 9:12.99 minutes breaking his own indoor Framingham High record, said head coach Chris Collins.

The Framingham High boys 4 X 800 relay finished strong at 8:31 minutes, said Coach Collins, at the MIAA all-states championship meet.

Runners were Shand Seiffert (senior), Trevor Lipp (junior), Arnav Singh (senior), and Burgess, who went 1:59 to anchor the relay said Collins.

The relay team finished 19th out of a field of 23 teams.

Concord-Carlisle won the relay event in 8:03.14 minutes.

Burgess will compete in the New England meet next weekend and then nations, along with nine other Flyers who qualified for the National meet in New York City.
