FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Public Library will host a free screening of the movie Dear Evan Hansen on Monday, February 28 at 2 p.m.

No registration is required but space is limited; first come, first served.

Screening starts at 2 p.m. for the PG-13 movie in the Costin room at the main Framingham Public Library at 49 Lexington Street.

The movie released in 2021 is based on the Broadway musical. Ben Platt who won a Tony Award for his role in 2017, stars in the movie.

Synopsis: “Evan Hansen is an anxious, isolated high-school student who’s aching for understanding and belonging amid the chaos and cruelty of the social media age. He soon embarks on a journey of self-discovery when a letter he wrote for a writing exercise falls into the hands of a grieving couple whose son took his own life.”

The musical and movie were inspired by the true story of Benj Pasek, the show’s lyricist, who, after a high school classmate died of a drug overdose, witnessed classmates tell false stories of being part of the deceased student’s life.
