HOPKINTON – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing it will be implementing a full closure of the Fruit Street Bridge, which carries traffic over the MBTA/CSX Railroad and the Sudbury River in Westborough and Hopkinton.

The closure will start at 7 a.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022.

The bridge will remain closed until Spring of 2023 in order to facilitate bridge construction operations as part of the $12.5 million bridge replacement project.

During the work, traffic will be directed to follow the detour signage in place that includes Route 9 and Route 135 for access.

Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution.

All scheduled work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
