NATICK – The Town of Natick is advertising for a fire chief.

The organization employs 85 fulltime uniformed civil service employees with an operating budget of approximately 9.0 million. In 2020 the Department responded to 2,823 EMS calls, 2,010 fire calls. 

Appointed by the Select Board and under the administrative oversight of the Town Administrator, the Fire Chief serves as a key member of the Town’s management team. Advanced degrees in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Homeland Security, Business or Public Administration are preferred. It is also preferred that candidates have completed the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program. Candidates should be credentialed as a Massachusetts Fire Chief or have the ability to become credentialed upon appointment. 

Candidates must have a minimum of seven years of experience in career fire service, as well as a minimum of five years of command and supervisory experience at the level of a shift commander or above.

Candidates must have demonstrated experience and skill within the following critical areas: budgeting; collaborative interagency relationships; labor management relations in a unionized environment; and fire, EMS and emergency management.

The salary range is $175,000 – $195,000 depending upon qualifications and experience.
