FRAMINGHAM – Members of the Framingham Cultural Council approved 26 project, totalling $46,706.

The grants will enhance the cultural life of the city in the year ahead. The grants will fund, fully or in part, a wide-ranging series of programs, events, and enterprises from the fields of music, theater, children’s literature, history, education, and more.

Award recipients include individuals, groups, and institutions.

Funds are provided annually to the cities and towns of the Commonwealth by the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) to support the arts, sciences, and humanities.

For the current year, the FCC received an allocation of $38,100 from the MCC and 40 applications for consideration.

Priority was given to those requests that would clearly benefit residents of the City of Framingham and were
aligned with the mission of the FCC to support projects in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences.

Special consideration was given to proposals that would support underrepresented or underserved segments of the population, positively impact various neighborhoods, and contribute to an understanding and appreciation
of the cultural diversity of Framingham.

At the regular Framingham Cultural Council meeting on January 5, the following awards were voted on and approved unanimously by Mauricio Perea, Anita Danker, Rick Gelfand, Nathaniel Joslin, Debbie Kardon, Charlie Kiefer, Lois
Levick, and Cindy Walsh. Present but not voting was ex-officio member Joel Winett. Absent from the meeting was Everton Vargas da Costa.
