ASHLAND – It is with profound sadness that the family of Lynn M. Winchenbach (née Raposa) of Shrewsbury, announces her peaceful passing on December 21, 2021 at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester, at the age of 56 after a courageous year-long battle with lung cancer. She spent her last days comforted by the love of her most cherished family and friends.

Lynn was born on June 17, 1965 and raised in North Attleboro.  She was the daughter of Arthur J. and Mary C. Raposa (née Piver) of Franklin, MA. She graduated from North Attleboro High School in 1983 and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she was a proud member of the Minuteman Marching Band. There she met her future husband Christopher Winchenbach, whom she married in 1990 and with whom she shared 31 wonderful years of marriage and had two beautiful children, Kyle, 28, and Kristine, 25.

Lynn worked at AAA in North Attleboro and Worcester, for many years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. For several years Lynn worked in the cafeteria of the Shrewsbury school system so that she would always be home and available after school for her children.  Lynn’s world revolved around her family, especially her children. She was always a tremendously devoted mother and lived for providing them all the care and love they would ever need.

Lynn was an avid animal lover, a passion she shared with her daughter Kristine. She passionately rescued many pets over the years, most recently their dog Ozzy who has provided great comfort to the entire family during these last difficult weeks.

Lynn enjoyed volunteer work at the Worcester Ecotarium and the Worcester Animal Rescue League and shared a love of camping with the family on a seasonal campsite on Lake Pemaquid in Maine, Lynn and Chris’ happy place where they spent quality time with their Maine “family”.

Lynn also cherished the friendships she shared with her longtime neighborhood girlfriends who provided immeasurable support to Lynn and her family in the most challenging weeks of Lynn’s illness.

In addition to her parents, husband and children, she is also survived by her sister Lori Linehan of North Attleboro, several brother and sister-in-laws, uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held at Matarese Funeral Home at 325 Main St., Ashland on Monday, December 27 from 4-7pm, and a funeral service will be held at Matarese Funeral Home the following morning, December 28 at 11 a.m.  Graveside Service will take place directly after at Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury. At the family’s request, masks or face coverings are required for all.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Worcester Ecotarium and/or the Worcester Animal Rescue League.
